Asia Argento, born in Rome to a household that includes directors and actors, was a professional in both fields. The actress made her debut when she was only nine years old in Sergio Citti's Sogni e bisogni (1985). She played the lead in the film as Cristina Comencini in her first film Zoo in the year 1988. Michele Soavi directed The Church 1989. Then, in 1989, she played Nanni Moretti's (also directed) daughter, also directed by Michele Soavi in Red Wood Pigeon. Close Friends (1992) by Michele Placido (both writer and director) is the year that Asia truly began to begin to take off. The film helped her move beyond the role of cute females to more sophisticated adult character. Cannes International Film Festival received the film with great awe. The Phantom of the Opera is her third collaboration alongside her dad. Trauma and The Stendhal Syndrome were the two previous films. Asia directed her debut feature in Scarlet Diva (2000). It was a collaborative effort with Asia and screenwriter/actor Linda McCartney. The film premiered worldwide in May 2000. In Brooklyn, New York it was awarded an award at the Williamsburg film festival. Anna Lou was her first born daughter in 2001. After directing several music videos, she got Anna Lou. She was a part of Jean-Marc Barr's performance on The Red Siren, directed by Olivier Megaton. In 2003 she was in Vin Diesel and Rob Cohen's action thriller. Asia also has a selection of short stories which have been published in some of the most prestigious magazines.
